What is World Social Media Day?

It’s no surprise that the world is becoming more connected by the day (even by the hour!). Social media, which has become ubiquitous in the modern era, has been a major contributor to this increase in connectivity. On World Social Media Day, it’s important to recognize how far we’ve come since the advent of modern social media, and how it’s enabling us to interact in ways that were never before possible. 

At its core, social media’s purpose is to connect people across different parts of the world. And of course there is a lot of misleading, out-of-context, or completely untrue information posted to social media daily, so it can be very important to be able to sort fact from opinion and check sources.
